The Lexus IS is the third generation of the model, and the company has done a stellar job maintaining that air of prestige carried in the first two iterations.
When it launched back in 2013, Lexus made the bold choice of ditching the diesel-engined version and offering only the petrol and petrol–electric hybrid models. Beneath the eye-catching four-door saloon bodyshell of the hybrid IS300h is a 2.5L petrol engine linked to an electric motor, driving the rear wheels through a CVT-style transmission, and boasting a total power output of 181bhp.

Drive and performance
The IS is crisp and secure to drive, if a tad uninspiring. All versions are pretty refined while on the move, and the hybrid can run on electric only for short distances around town. The IS steers and handles well, although it doesn’t offer the driver much in the way of involvement. That being said, it makes for an eminently comfortable ride, and the interior benefits from high-quality materials which add to the experience.
